FIREWORKS AFTER THE FOURTH
ANNUAL 3-MAN PAINTBALL TOURNAMENT
The first Fireworks After The Fourth was held in the year 2000. It is traditionally held on the first SATURDAY after the Fouth of July. We always encourage players and teams to bring paintball related items they have for sale and/or trade, as to have a SWAP MEET sort of event to go with the tournament.
This years event "threatened" to be the BIGGEST yet. Having had 6 teams the first year, and 8 teams in '01 and '02, we were very excited when we initially had about 9 OPEN teams and 5 ROOKIE teams express interest. We thought we might actually have the "Rookie Division" we've wanted since the first Fireworks. But, as time ran out, so did some of the teams. When Tourney morning came, we had 6 teams, including 1 Rookie team (Blessed Diciples), whos 3rd didnt show up. They picked up a local tourney player (no Rookie), and jumped right in with the OPEN class.

Wally Bennett, of Bennett's Do It Center (I'll correct that name if needed. Sorry Wally) in Louisville, MS, handled the air for the day. Wally and several of the guys at Bennett's, play paintball. Stop by and check out their selection of markers, paintballs, and accessories.

Gameheads came out strong with 4 MAXES, only stumbling in their last game of pre-lims. Godspeed had 3 straight MAXES, that promised to keep the scores close. Then a low score in their 4th game slowed the run, but, another MAX in their 5th game made them high scorers going into the finals. Dog Pound is definately one THE most energetic teams I know. No matter what happened the game before, they were always "pumped" at the starting gate before the next game. The surprise of the day was the Blessed Diciples (the "Rookie" team). Just goes to show what 2 guys with "entry level" markers shooting CO2, can go to a tourney, replace a no-show team mate (with Arnie, a regular tourney player, but STILL... hehe), and do well in the OPEN Division. WAY TO GO GUYS!!!! My old team mates from Damage came to support Fireworks again. They started to pull it together towards the end, but, fell short of finals by only 30 points. Fear Factory didnt think they would get to play, but, came together a few days before the event.
I believe one of them had been sick, and MJ injuring himself early in the day led to them having an uncharacteristic bad day.

Just like in the Pre-lims,
Gameheads came out strong in the Finals, then dropped their last game. But, this time it was enough to hold on to First Place. Dog Pound had a good first game and moved into Second Place. While Godspeed waited till their last Finals game to pull a MAX, they were still in Third Place by 10 points. Blessed Diciples got a piece of them, but, couldnt keep up with the very hungry OPEN class teams. Very NICE Fourth Place finish though, guys!!!
